Do I need to rent a car in Madeira?
Because you are staying in that area, and also because Madeira as so much to offer, good sightseeing all around the island, i do recommend you rent a car. The main roads, with lots of tunnels, in the south of the island are very good (almost all built in the last 10/15 years), and you wont have problems getting around.
